Two weeks ago, I was very busy, because I prepared for science project, which is about energy. So that means a lot of writing, reading and watching TV. First, I started with searching about that topic by using online, and visited a lot of web sites to pick up the information about energy. Next, I wrote my reflection about the science project, and what that project adds to me. In addition, I made portfolio about it and I organized it by put many sections in it. Also, I put all the information I had in the CD with power point until I will present it soon.

During those weeks, I wrote short story about myself for academic writing and reading class. It talked about punishment when I was child. When I wrote my story I used new vocabulary such as attitudes-it means position, bitterness- it means acrimony, and approached- it means close , but I will Waite my teacher finish correction it. In addition, I was read article (Do Kid Need Friends) in http://www.google.com/search?q=in+http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aboutourkids.org%2Farticles%2Fdo+kids+need+friends&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-GB:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=. I felt it a very useful for me, because earned some new vocabulary such as intimacy-it means closeness; aggression-it means violence, rejection- it means refusal, and stimulation- it means motivation. For how I know their meaning, I used my dictionary- long man- to get the meaning.

In the end of all those, I enjoyed in my leisure time, and I watched my favorite channels such as mbc and fox movie with black tea and a big subway’s cheese sandwich.

Speaking Time

Two weeks ago, I had lot of things that pleased me. So you can say they were speaking weeks, for many reasons. First, I met with the delegation of Singaporean education specialists. They asked me a lot of questions. For example, they asked about the first-year foundation. And how it was? What is my feeling when I joined this college? What are the skills that I learned? We spent almost half an hour discussed the academic subjects that are used in college. At the end of the meeting, they hoped that the future is bright for me and I will become a wonderful teacher.

Second, I visited Early Learning Center with my colleagues, this center specializes in the sale of toys and others educational things, and this trip was for human development course. In that palace there are officer was waiting us, and started talking about the Center and ask us for example, how we can choose appropriate toys for kids and what are the quality of those games, and how can kids play in them. After that we discussed with hem about the appropriate ages for each toy. So when we finish our trip we came back to our college with a lot of information.

Final, I went to Dubai in last Thursday, to attended Teach Me Conference with ten of students and two teachers. In the bus I spoke with Mrs. Key about many things and how I am exciting for this trip. During the conference, I entered three of lectures. One about Learning Strategies: from Teacher to Student, next lecture about Positive Behavior Supports for Classroom Management and last one about The Magic Key in The Preparation of Activities for Students. In those class, I sheared with my opinion and answers the questions that teachers asked us, also I learnt many new vocabulary that help me in my speaking. For example, conference: it’s mean an important event includes a lot of people interested for example, in the Education, Medicine, Technology fields. Another word was concepts: its mean Definitions. Furthermore, abstract conceptualization: means ability to learn by thinking. Also, I have more words I wrote in my notice book such as sequential, spontaneous, rational, diversified and cognitive.

In the end, I felt very happy, because I passed in new experiences, and they raised my self- confidence and they made my mind refresh.

Last week, I was very busy, because I had a lot of homework, projects and ICT reflection. So I felt a big pressure on me, but I understood there are strategies I must to apply it to improve my English level skills. Let’s began with, writing strategy. First part, I try to make a small plan for what I will doing after college in every day. For example, I wrote a small list about homework or projects. At that time I divided them according to more important to less important and data or deadline. 2 weeks ago, I started writing compare and contrast about Genie and I for academic writing and reading class. In that class my teacher made 4 groups between students, and took all essays, and she gave each group one essay to correct it. I liked what the teacher did because each of us put her comments and shared ideas with together. Next, we started with anther student’s essay until to finish all ours essays, and we made another drafts in next day. Second part was ICT class. In that class I try to write notes. Also, I wrote every thing I learnt in that class and what a new information I learnt, and I made reflection about all of them and how that can help me in future. My ICT teacher put her comments on my writing (black board) and I read those comments and corrected them. Furthermore, that was a good way to apply my writing plan. Last, sometimes I ask my classmates if they write essays or some notes to show me, if I can read what they write. I know if we need to improve our level we must read and write more and more.

Last week, I had funny week with applying my speaking skill. So, through it I enjoyed too much, because I put three steps and I started doing them. First step, I saw sense and sensibility movie in last Friday. In actuality, it was a great movie and I liked it, but I faced difficulty to understand the actors’ pronunciation. This movie contains words was difficult for me to understand the movie but with a continuing watch it became easy for me such as determined, excursions, admiration and misery. For that I did small search in dictionary .com, and I knew each word meaning.
Second step was Conservation for 15 minutes about divorce. In last Monday, I did a dialogue with my sister and my brother's wife on the issue of causes and effects of divorce and how its impact on children, parents and society. In that time I realized we should not be shy when we want to speak English just started and that become easy. While we were talking my mother was sitting and observed what we did she was laughing because she did not understand what we are talking about and she asked us about what talked.
Final step was using Sky Pronunciation for 15 minutes. I used that program, which my computer includes it, on last Wednesday. It was very useful, because I did a lot of practices in it. Also, I recorded my voice when I read a short part of sense and sensibility story. Truly I spent a nice time with Sky pronunciation. Thus I will try doing it again soon.

Language learning Journal (Journal 1)

When I started wrote my LLP I faced a big problem for how I make plane for what I will study next days, and it a first time to prepare for skills strategies and how I follow each skill, but instead I made my special map for language learning. First strategy, reading is a key to collect huge of numbers of vocabulary. For that, I chose every Sunday and Thursday to read newspapers in website (http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/une.htm), and read English stories, and for them I used one hour and I divided in two parts; half hour for each of them; when I begin in last Sunday, I felt how it was easy, and how it was comfortable to use plan. I Knew that a good, because now I read my story very fast more than any time. So I decided that I would make this week a special week for reading to help me to improve my skill. Also, I try to identify, analysis the ideas and put for each paragraphs title and if I found any difficulties of understanding the words, I used my dictionary book (Longman) to found definition for difficult word until I understanding it , because that is very important for me to learn new vocabularies.
Moreover, I put in my bag short and small stories to read wherever I have free time. The last story I read were entitled Sense and Sensibility story written by Jane Austen. In this story, I tried to finish reading in half hour per two days. So that it helps me to read English stories quickly. This is a beginning simple to learn and improve my reading skills.
Finally, I think People learn to read by reading, skill building is important, but without practice putting all the skills together and pleasure reading has cognitive benefits. It improves skill and strategy use, builds fluency, enlarges vocabulary, and builds a student’s knowledge of the world.
